Visitor Information and Guidelines

GPRMC Visitation Policy as Response to COVID-19 (11-25-20)

Why is Great Plains Regional Medical Center Updating the Visitation Policy?

The new restrictions on patient visitations are in place to protect patients, their families and all GPRMC caregivers.

These temporary restrictions are being enforced out of an abundance of caution, and to mitigate the potential transmission of the COVID-19 illness or influenza.

Great Plains Regional Medical Center is following guidelines and best practices issued by the Centers for Disease Control.

This is a temporary inconvenience, but we have implemented this policy in the best interests of our patients, caregivers and the community.

What is the revised visitation policy?

• The new policy restricts all visitors, including the ER waiting area./p>

• The exception is labor and delivery suites or admitted minor patients, where one designated visitor is permitted in the room - the visitor must remain the same throughout the length of stay.

• Designated individual cannot be a child under the age of 18.

• For confirmed COVID-19 patients and patients awaiting results, visitors will not be allowed, unless the patient is a minor.

• Visiting hours for designated individuals will be between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM daily.

After 6PM the designated individual must have permission from the unit house supervisor to re-enter after screening.

• All visitors will be required to check-in through ER Registration and complete a brief health screening before entering a patient care area.

• Great Plains Regional Medical Center is asking individuals who may be sick themselves, including those experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough or sore throat, to not visit the hospital unless they are seeking medical treatment.

• Exception requests must be submitted to the Clinical Director and then approved by CEO, Corey Lively.

Waiting Areas

There is a specially designated lounge area for visitors in the lobby at the main entrance of the medical center. Other waiting areas are located on Med Surg, ICU, Women’s Center, by the Emergency Department, and by the Outpatient Department.
